Welcome to the twenty-first episode in the Out Of Breath series! This run in Ushuaia occurred on the 4th of December, 2018.
The month we spent in Patagonia I didn't do any running, but I did a lot of trekking. And before we spent our time in Patagonia, I ran a few times in Santiago (an awesome city! My favorite of our trip so far) though I didn't take any photos. It was a really fun city to just run around in the morning.
But now we were in Ushuaia! The end of the world. How could I NOT run here? Contrary to what we expected of the weather (intense winds and frequent rainstorms), most of the week we spent here was sunny, moderate wind (you simply cannot escape the wind in Patagonia) and only one day of rain. It was gorgeous!
The morning I went running was quite cold, though. It was close to 0c (32f) and took me nearly fifteen minutes of running before my fingers and toes weren't numb.
The views certainly made up for it. There are no ocean views, but there's a lot of water in the Beagle channel and the mountains towering (relatively) over the town are quite impressive.
The last part of the run was sort of exciting, too. As you may notice in the clouds, it appears some of them are rather dark and ominous looking. A few minutes after I finished running and while I was doing my fifteen minute cool down walk back to our airbnb, it started to rain a bit. It's been a while since I was so enthusiastic for a hot shower at the end of a run.
